Dr Harjinder Singh Lallie PhD., MPhil., MSc., SFHEA, M.Inst.IP

University Reader in Cyber Security (University of Warwick)

Harjinder’s research focuses on digital forensics and investigations, and the analysis of complex cyber attacks. Harjinder is the Director of the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education at the University of Warwick, he leads a large team of academics. Harjinder has more than 20 years of academic experience, in that time he has led numerous programmes and has published extensively within the cyber security domain. He also supervises projects at the University of Oxford, and has taught that the CDT for Cyber Security at the University of Oxford.

Parminder Kaur Johal, ACMA, CGMA, MRes, BSc, SFHEA

Head of Discipline for the Accounting, Economics and Finance Discipline (University of Derby)

Parminder CIMA qualified with industry experience and has over 20 years of experience of teaching in the discipline of Accounting and Finance in the Higher Education (HE) sector, in both the UK and international markets. She has maintained a level of input to industry through a combination of commercial activity and voluntary activity such as trustee board member /governor roles.
Her research interest lies in pedagogy practice, in particular in the context of the accounting discipline; how HE aligns itself and delivers to both the ever-changing nature of the accountancy profession and the needs of the employer/market. She has co-authored one textbook and contributed chapters to several books ranging from innovative practices in teaching and learning to more specific accounting based contemporary issues

Nimrita Kaur Bahia, PhD, FHEA

Course Director for Childhood, Youth & Education Studies (Coventry University)

Nimrita’s expertise in the applied sector spans 15 years practising as a Stage 1 Health Psychologist, Integrative Therapist, and working directly with children, young people, and their families. She has been awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Sector 2022’ for her external stakeholder involvement with organisations forming Coventry’s Youth Partnership in addition to her earlier achievements in developing the first integrated model of early intervention provision in the region for 5-18’s. Her consultancy is further accessed by partners including Centre for BAMER Research in Bolton, BBC Asian Network and MATV in abridging the understanding between children & young people from BAMER communities and their families.

Dr Gurnam Singh PhD., NTF., FRSA

Associate Professor of Sociology (University of Warwick)

Gurnam’s research focusses on the question of ‘race’, ‘pedagogy’ and higher education’. Gurnam was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) from the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2009. And in 2018, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA). Gurnam is a world expert on social justice, social work and higher education and has published 4 books and 40 book chapters and peer-review journal articles, given numerous conference papers and regularly contributes to podcasts, blogs and media interviews. He has worked as a consultant with a number of bodies, such as the HEFCE, UUK, OfS, HEA, LFHE, Advanced HE, and various universities.

Harjinder Kaur Aujla MSc, PgDip, PgCHP, R.N

Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing (University of Birmingham)

Harjinder is a mental health lecturer in school of nursing at University of Birmingham. Harjinder is a researches DVA and the impact on Sikh survivors. She is co-investigator on an AHRC grant on GBV in slum- dwellings in India. She has written on various equality issues and campaigns on human rights issues. She is president of University of Birmingham UCU branch, executive member of Birmingham Trade Union Council and Co-Chair of the national BABCP EDI committee.

Mangalpreet Singh MPharm PgCert (CEIP) MRPharmS, MAPCPharm

Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice (Aston University)

Mangalpreet is an experienced pharmacy professional delivering teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Aston University. Within the faculty, he is the lead for population and public health and an expert advisor to the medicine’s optimisation research group. He also serves as an academic supervisor to a number of final year projects.

In addition to his teaching commitments, Mangalpreet is a registered clinical pharmacist and independent prescriber with a strong portfolio of experience across a broad range of pharmacy settings.

Raj Mann LLB (Hons), LLM, APM (She./Her)

Managing Director & Principal Consultant, DRKM Consulting

Raj is a strategic leader in Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDI&B), a researcher, and an aspiring PhD candidate. She holds an Law LLB (Hons) at University of Sheffield, A Masters (LLM) in Law focussed on the Equality Act (2010) and completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School. Her work brings legal expertise, lived experience and principled practice together to create environments where people feel psychologically safe, valued and able to thrive.

Raj’s leadership has been recognised nationally with three honours:

1. The Phoenix Award for outstanding contribution to EDI strategic impact, race equity expertise, wellbeing and belonging
2. The Inclusive Impact Award for advancing systemic change in EDI through strategic leadership and governance
3. The Houses of Common NEON Award for excellence in widening participation programme design, delivery and impact

Across Higher Education in Yorkshire, Raj has combined strategy, delivery and partnership working. At the University of York she designed and delivered the award winning Shine, a flagship widening access programme. She later served as Programme Manager for the Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education (YCEDE), a £4m+ multi‑university collaboration focused on race equity in postgraduate research. 

Raj is a passionate advocate for education and research as engines of opportunity. Through her consultancy, she works with universities and organisations to embed EDI&B into systems, culture and everyday practice, with a focus on psychological safety, race equity, and inclusive research environments.

She is committed to strengthening representation across the research pipeline and ensuring that Sikh researchers and all researchers from underrepresented backgrounds, can access environments where they feel safe, supported and able to contribute fully.

Priyapreet Kaur

MBChB Medicine, Year 2, (Keele University)

I am a Medical student at Keele University. I have a special interest in medical humanities and I am a founding member of the Keele medical humanities society. I am passionate about community outreach and helping the sangat with their health!

Gracy Singh

BSc Health, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences , year 1, (Brighton University)

A first year Undergraduate student pursuing Health, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences Student at the University of Brighton. My passion lies in proactively understanding and inspiring individuals to embrace a holistic lifestyle that includes all aspects of wellbeing such as regular physical activity , proper nutrition and mindfulness. I am currently leading the Brighton Sikh Society and am determined to represent our community, and create a safe space for the sangat in Brighton.

Harsimran Kaur

MSci Psychology, year 4, (Royal Holloway University)

Harsimran is a 4th year psychology student with a special interest in neuroscience. She is also the president of the Sikh Society at Royal Holloway.

Harsimran hopes to do a PhD after completing her studies.

Daleep Singh Bahra

I am currently a physics student at the university of Warwick, who’s interested in doing a PhD. I am passionate about community engagement and improving education of the Sangat.

Manjeet Singh Kandhola

MEng MEng Electronics Engineering with industrial Engineering, Year 2, (University of Manchester)

I’m the President of Manchester Sikh Society. I also hold volunteer positions in the IET and National Grid and sit in on the IET National Executive Committee Meetings. I am passionate about engineering and using it to solve real word problems. I hope to inspire and connect our sangat so together we can collaboratively solve problems and elevate through academia.
