Sikh Society Affiliation with Sikhs in Academia

Who are Sikhs in Academia? Sikhs in Academia (SiA) is a UK-wide network of Sikh professors, academics, researchers, and students, working together to support and advance Sikh representation in higher education. Our network is growing — and increasingly global.

Join our network Your Sikh Society is at the heart of campus life — and we want to connect you to something bigger. By affiliating with SiA, your society and your students become part of a nationwide community of Sikh academics and professionals who are committed to supporting the next generation of Sikh scholars.

Affiliation is free. Here is what it means for your students and your society.

What your students get:

· Academic advice and representation* — confidential advice and representation for students facing academic difficulties, including academic offence hearings and other formal proceedings

· CV and career support — dedicated one-to-one career support, including internship guidance and, in some cases, connections to internship funding opportunities

· Chaplaincy service — access to our dedicated SiA chaplain, working across the UK, in addition to any chaplaincy support already in place at your university

· Free conference places — two students attend the SiA Annual Conference free of charge

What your society gets:

· A customised Sikh Society Freshers Magazine — based on our 2025–26 edition with over 1,000 downloads

· Recognition in the SiA Annual Conference Report

· The opportunity to present at our Annual Conference

What we ask in return:

*In the past two years, SiA has advised and in some cases represented students facing serious academic difficulties. In two cases, we safeguarded students from expulsion — once through intervention in an appeal process, and once by providing the services of an expert witness in an investigation. When students face these challenges, they often do not know where to turn. SiA provides a confidential and professional service, free of charge, to any student at an affiliated university.
